'12 Taliban Arrested' For Involvement In Pakistan School Massacre

Pakistan says 12 local Taliban militants have been arrested in connection with a deadly school attack late last year.

Army spokesman General Asim Saleem Bajwa said on February 12 that six of the suspects were arrested in Afghanistan while another six were arrested in Pakistan.

"The intelligence agencies of both countries worked together and we are very thankful to Afghanistan," Bajwa said.

One of the arrested, Maulvi Abdus Salam, was the imam of a mosque in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar “whose salary was paid by the government.”

Bajwa said another nine members of what is believed to be a 27-member cell have been killed.

Pakistan has stepped up its efforts against militancy after Taliban militants killed 151 people in the December 16 Peshawar school massacre.
