Taliban fighters have attacked a police headquarters in the northern Afghan province of Kunduz.
Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqqi said the militants first detonated two suicide bombs before three gunmen launched an attack and died in a shootout with police.
President Ashraf Ghani condemned the attack and said it killed one police officer.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack.
In the eastern city of Jalalabad, authorities said a bomb targeted the vehicle in which Angeza Shinwari, a female member of the Provincial Council of Nangarhar, was traveling in.
One person was reported killed and several others injured, including Shinwari.
No group claimed responsibility.
Taliban militants have stepped up their attacks on Afghan security forces in recent months.
U.S. and NATO forces formally ended their combat mission at the end of 2014, with Afghan troops taking charge of the country's security.
