12 Killed In Blast At Thai Petrochemical Plant


A dozen people have been killed and more than 100 injured by a fire and explosions, which occurred at a petrochemical plant in eastern Thailand late on May 5.

Workers and more than 1,000 residents were evacuated from the site, some 200 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, but had been allowed to return on on May 6.

A preliminary investigation indicated that the fire started when workers were cleaning a chemical tank.
