Three Americans Killed In Afghan Hospital Attack

Three Americans have been killed after a police officer opened fire at an international hospital in the Afghan capital.

The U.S. Embassy in Kabul said the attack occurred on April 24 at the CURE International Hospital, which is located in western Kabul and is run by an American charity.

Afghan officials said the dead included a doctor.

Interior Ministry spokesman Seddiq Sediqqi said the attacker opened fire as the Americans were entering the hospital, killing three and injuring another person.

Sediqqi said another police officer shot and wounded the attacker, who was detained.

A motive for the shootings is not immediately known.

Kabul has been hit by a spate of attacks targeting foreign civilians this year, including assaults on a hotel frequented by foreign guests and on a guesthouse used by foreign aid workers.
