Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican, has announced on Twitter that he has chosen the governor of the state of Indiana, Mike Pence, as his vice presidential running mate.
Pence, 57, is a Christian conservative Republican who formerly served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Pence describes himself as a "defender of family values," and is noted for his stances against access to abortion and marriage equality for homosexuals.
