Police Say Would-Be Hijacker Of Turkish Plane Was Mentally Ill

Turkish media reports say police interrogating the would-be hijacker of a Turkish passenger plane today found he was suffering from psychological problems.

The 40-year-old man, named in media reports as Yasar Cuma, tried to force his way into the cockpit of the Turkish Airlines flight from Oslo to Istanbul, claiming he had a bomb.

He wanted the plane to return immediately to Oslo but was overpowered by other passengers.

He was arrested after the plane landed and reports said no explosives were found.

Norwegian media said the man had been living in an asylum seekers' center in southwest Norway.
