The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has announced it will provide a loan of more than $185 million to help complete the metro system in Ukraine's eastern city of Dnipropetrovsk.
The EBRD said that the project, which will be co-financed with the European Investment Bank (EIB), is aimed at completing the existing metro linking the suburbs with the city center in Ukraine's fourth-largest city, which has a population of some 1 million.
The EBRD said the project is envisioned as giving the system the capability to double its annual ridership to more than 20 million people by 2026.
