Ukrainian Opposition Protests Alleged Election Fraud

More than a thousand supporters of Ukraine's opposition parties rallied in front of the Central Election Commission in Kyiv on November 5 to protest the alleged rigging of the results from last month's parliamentary elections. Opposition parties, including the Batkivshchyna (Fatherland) party of jailed former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the Udar (Punch) party of former world boxing champion Vitali Klitschko, are threatening to boycott the newly elected parliament. With nearly all the votes counted, President Viktor Yanukovych's ruling Party of Regions and its allies appear to have retained a majority of more than 225 seats in the 450-seat parliament.
