Losing Hope: Ukraine's Older Refugees Long For Home After A Year Living In Exile

In the weeks and months following Russia's invasion, almost 9 million Ukrainians, mostly women, children, and the elderly, fled to Poland. Many have returned home. Of the 1.5 million who remain, 76,000 are over the age of 60. While social isolation and loneliness are often part of the experience of living in exile, older persons can be among the worst affected.
