U.S. Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O. Blake Jr. is due to arrive in Tashkent on August 15 on a four-day visit to Uzbekistan.
Reports say talks between Blake and senior Uzbek officials will focus on bilateral relations and the New Silk Road strategy, a U.S. plan to promote stability in Central Asia following the departure of U.S. and NATO troops from Afghanistan.
The hope is that boosting trade among Afghanistan and its neighbors will build prosperity and promote peace.
