Uzbek President Islam Karimov is expected to pay a state visit to Latvia this week.
Latvia's presidential press service said on October 15 that Karimov and his Latvian counterpart, Andris Berzins, would discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues, during the Uzbek leader's visit on October 16-17.
Several documents on the further development of bilateral ties in the political, economic, trade, and environmental spheres are scheduled to be signed.
Last year, trade turnover between the two countries was more than $243 million. Between January 1 and July 1 of this year, trade turnover was estimated to be close to $126 million.
