The Welsh parliament has approved a resolution recognizing the 1932-33 Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian Embassy in London said on October 25. The embassy said the Welsh parliament also recognized journalist Gareth Jones, saying his legacy “deserves a wider recognition by the international community." Despite a warning from Soviet authorities to remain silent, Jones published news about the Holodomor in the Western media in 1933 after witnessing atrocities against Ukrainians.
