A memorial to Boris Yeltsin has been vandalized in the first Russian president's native city of Yekaterinburg.
Police said vandals removed letters from the memorial and poured a large amount of blue paint on it.
The motive for the attack was unclear, and it was not immediately known who carried it out.
The 10-meter high memorial was unveiled to mark Yeltsin's 80th birthday in February, 2011 by then-President Dmitry Medvedev.
Yeltsin led the country from December 1991 to December 1999, in the aftermath of the collapse of the Soviet Union.
He died in April 2007 at the age of 76.
