29 July 2004 -- Pakistan's government has condemned the reported killing of two Pakistanis by militants in Iraq.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Masood Khan said the kidnappers had committed a crime against humanity, against Islam, and against the peoples of Pakistan and Iraq.
Al-Jazeera television said it had received a videotape in which the militant group, which calls itself the Islamic Army in Iraq, said it had executed the two men for collaborating with U.S. forces. The group released an Iraqi driver who was said to have "repented."
The reported executions capped a day in which more than 100 people were killed in the worst violence in Iraq since the interim government took power on 28 June ago.
At least 68 people were killed yesterday in a vehicle bombing near a police station in Baquba.
The U.S. military also said 35 insurgents and seven members of the Iraqi security forces were killed in clashes south of Baghdad.
