13 September 2004 -- Schools in the southern Russian republic of North Ossetia are reopening today, except for Beslan's School No. 1, scene of a hostage drama in which at least 330 people died.
Russia's RIA-Novosti news agency yesterday quoted the local Education Ministry as saying that other schools in Beslan will reopen on 15 September after being inspected by security forces. All schools across the republic were closed during the crisis.
Children who survived the tragedy will be housed with their parents in rest homes where they will attend classes but also receive psychological care.
Many Beslan children are displaying signs of trauma and expressing extreme reluctance to return to classes.
