26 November 2004 -- U.S. troops fighting insurgents in Mosul found another 15 bodies, and a military spokesman said today that the killings are part of a "continued campaign" to spread fear into the public.
Many of the nearly 40 bodies found during the past week in the northern city were identified as members of the Iraqi security forces, which Lieutenant Colonel Paul Hastings said is the prime target of the insurgents.
In another development, Iraqi national security adviser Qasim Daoud said a lieutenant of militant leader Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi was captured this week in Mosul.
And Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar al-Zebari said the interim government plans to meet soon in Jordan with rebel leaders to try to persuade them to participate in politics in Iraq. Elections are are planned for late January.
