Eight U.S., Iraqi Soldiers Killed In Attacks

U.S. soldiers in Iraq (file photo) 18 August 2005 -- Four U.S. soldiers and four Iraqi soldiers were killed today in two separate attacks in northern and western Iraq.
The U.S. military said the four Americans were killed by a roadside bomb in the city of Samarra. In Al-Fallujah, police said four Iraqi soldiers were killed by a hand grenade.

Insurgents also opened fire on Anbar Province Governor Mamun al-Alwani and a group of Sunni clerics as they were meeting in Al-Ramadi. Witnesses said two clerics were wounded.
