Two Serbs Killed, Two Injured In Kosovo Shooting

28 August 2005 -- The UN Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) said today that two Serbs were killed and two others wounded when attackers opened fire on their car in southern Kosovo last night.
The attack occurred on the Urosevac-Skopje highway, when unknown gunmen sprayed the car with bullets as they were overtaking in their own vehicle.

The UN police said one of the victims was killed instantly and another died later. One of the wounded men was critically injured, the other is reportedly not in a life-threatening condition.

The police said they are "aggressively investigating" the crime.

UNMIK head Soren Jessen-Petersen said he "strongly condemned" the incident. Six years since the end of a war between Serb security forces and Albanian guerrillas, Kosovo remains volatile.
