23 September 2005 (RFE/RL) -- An Afghan official said today that unknown assailants killed a popular local singer and six other people in northern Afghanistan.
Provincial Governor Guma Khan Hamdard says the bodies of Qorban Nazar and six of his friends were found in the Chemtal District of Jawsjan Province on 22 September.
Hamdard said they were all shot. He said the motive for the killings is unclear, but that it did not appear to be theft.
