Suicide Bomber Only Casualty In Afghan Attacks

Aftermath of a suicide attack in Afghanistan, September 2005 (AFP) 14 December 2005 -- An apparent suicide bomber blew himself up in northern Afghanistan today, killing only himself.

The man blew himself up in a park near a shrine in Mazar-e Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province. The motive behind the incident is not clear.


In another attack on 14 December, in Faizabad in northeastern Afghanistan, a donkey carrying a mine on its back exploded on a road near a German aid agency's vehicle. The donkey was the only casualty. Again, the motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
