1 March 2006 -- Six Iranian seamen who had been adrift in the waters of the Persian Gulf for 10 days have been rescued by a U.S. warship.
The U.S. 5th Fleet Command said in Bahrain on 1 March that the rescue was carried out during a security patrol in the central Gulf.
The Iranians said their vessel, a motorized dhow, suffered engine and rudder trouble on 18 February, and had been adrift since then.
