Kyrgyz police show weapons and leaflets allegedly belonging to Hizb ut-Tahrir members seized in March (RFE/RL)
June 9, 2006 -- Reports from Tajikistan say two people have been sentenced to 10 and 13 years in prison, respectively, on charges of belonging to the banned radical Islamic group Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The verdict was reached on June 7 in the northern city of Khujand.
The city court also ruled the two should be barred from publicly conducting religious activities for five years following their release from prison.
