Turkmen Victims Of Afghan Air Crash Found

(RFE/RL) June 11, 2006 -- The bodies of seven Turkmen aid workers killed in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan five months ago have been recovered from a remote mountaintop.

The U.S.-led coalition said in a statement today that the bodies of the seven were retrieved on June 10 by a team of Turkmen and American experts.

The helicopter vanished from radar screens on January 20. Villagers found the wreckage, on a mountaintop in the northern province of Kapisa, only on June 1.
