July 11, 2006 -- The judge presiding over the trial of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein and his codefendants today adjourned the proceedings until July 24.
The reason is the decision of the defense lawyers to boycott the trial until they given greater security.
Judge Ra'uf Rashid Abd al-Rahman said the court will appoint lawyers to represent the defendants if the defense's lawyers do not end their boycott by July 24.
