July 12, 2006 -- South African President Thabo Mbeki is to participate in the July 15-17 Group of Eight (G8) summit in Saint Petersburg.
The South African Foreign Ministry made the announcement today.
Mbeki -- together with the presidents of India, Brazil, Mexico, and China -- has been invited to the Russian-hosted summit as strategic outreach partner and will participate in a roundtable discussion on July 17.
