40 Kidnapped In Iraq

(RFE/RL) October 31, 2006 -- Iraqi police say that 40 people are missing after armed kidnappers ambushed vehicles on a road to the Iraqi capital today.

Police say that the kidnappers set up roadblocks and stopped the vehicles near Al-Tarmiyah, about 30 kilometers north of Baghdad.


Police say it appears that the kidnapped are mostly Shi'a.
