EU Starts Visa Talks With Five Balkan States

EU Commissionner Franco Frattini (file photo) (epa) November 30, 2006 -- The European Union today started negotiations on visa agreements with five Balkan states.

The talks bring together EU Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini and ministers from Albania, Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.


The negotiations are aimed at making it easier for citizens of Balkan nations to get EU visas. Frattini said he hopes the talks can be concluded "as soon as possible in 2007."
