Ukraine Signs WTO Regulations Into Law

(RFE/RL) December 5, 2006 -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has signed into law a packet of legislation aimed at gaining the country's membership of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The package was approved by the parliament last month.

Another law signed by Yushchenko dramatically reduced duties paid on raw leather and meat exported from Ukraine. Other changes include making Ukrainian law match WTO standards for trade item name, reference number, certificate of origin, and source of manufacture.
