Bosnia Hails Serbian Elections

(RFE/RL) January 23, 2007 -- Bosnia-Herzegovina's State Presidency congratulated the Serbian authorities on the successful conduct of parliamentary elections, and said it hopes for a new democratic government to be established soon.

According to exit polls, the nationalist Serbian Radical Party won about 28 percent of the January 21 vote -- more than its rivals, but not enough to form a government on its own.

Meanwhile, the EU's Stability Pact coordinator, Erhard Busek, said on German radio today that Serbia can start accession talks with the EU as soon as a government is formed.
