Russia Refuses Entry To Norwegian Defense Adviser

(RFE/RL) February 8, 2007 -- Russia has refused entry to a Norwegian Defense Ministry adviser who had flown to Moscow for talks on decommissioning nuclear submarines.

Ingjerd Kroken said she did not know the reason why she was turned back on February 7.

Kroken, who co-chairs an Arctic intergovernmental group working to solve defense-related environmental problems, said she had visited Moscow dozens of times over the past 10 years for the project.

There was no comment from Russian officials.
