Iranian President Arrives In United Arab Emirates

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad (RFE/RL) May 13, 2007 -- Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Abu Dhabi for talks with leaders of the United Arab Emirates.

Ahead of the two-day visit, authorities in the United Arab Emirates released 12 Iranian divers who had been arrested earlier this month in Gulf waters near the disputed Abu Musa island.

The Iranian president's visit comes after U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney last week met with officials from the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi.
