Georgian Opposition Figure Shot Dead

(RFE/RL) May 21, 2007 -- A Georgian opposition figure has been shot and killed in the capital, Tbilisi.

Sixty-seven-year-old Guram Sharadze was a former member of parliament and the leader of the nationalist Language, Motherland, and Faith political movement.


Police have detained a suspect in the May 20 killing. There is no information on a possible motive.
