Yushchenko Says Talks On Political Crisis Exhausted

Viktor Yushchenko (left, file photo) (official site) May 23, 2007 -- Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko says the working group responsible for resolving Ukraine's political crisis has exhausted itself.

Speaking to foreign investors and diplomats in Kyiv, Yushchenko accused forces loyal to Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych of attempting to "drag out the negotiating process."

The president said a decision on early parliamentary elections "must be made in the next few days."

Yushchenko and Yanukovych have been trying unsuccessfully to set a date for early parliamentary elections to resolve their ongoing power struggle.
