EU-Serbia Talks To Resume Soon

Olli Rehn (file photo) (epa) May 30, 2007 -- The EU enlargement chief has told the European Commission that talks on closer ties with Serbia could resume very soon because Belgrade is moving to cooperate with the UN war crimes tribunal.

Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn said he will soon brief EU ambassadors on progress.

But reports say no announcement is expected today on a resumption of talks, suspended in 2006 after Belgrade failed to keep a promise to arrest former Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic, indicted on genocide charges.
