14 Killed In Attack On Iraqi Police Official's House

(RFE/RL) June 8, 2008 -- Police say gunmen attacked the house of a senior police official in Diyala Governorate, east of Baghdad,  today, killing 14 people, including his wife, and abducting his four children.
It is not clear whether the official was at his house in Kan'an, southeast of Ba'qubah, at the time of the attack.

Earlier today, two car bombs killed 15 people and wounded more than 30 in the southern Iraqi town of Qurna. The casualty toll from those attacks is expected to rise.

There were reportedly also other blasts in the northern part of the country, near the border with Syria.
