Ban's talks in Tbilisi are expected to center on Georgia's plans to send some 100 troops to Afghanistan to assist the NATO mission there.
Ban arrived in the Georgian capital from Kabul, where he had talks with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
UN spokesman Adrian Edwards said earlier Ban's discussions with Karzai were to focus on how to ensure UN coordination with the Afghan government.
Ban also met with the U.S. commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, General Dan McNeill.
