Montenegro: Constitutional Court Postpones Decision

Podgorica, 27 October 1997 (RFE/RL) - Montenegro's Constitutional Court announced Friday that it would not rule as previously scheduled on whether any irregularities occurred in the presidential runoff.

Constitutional Court President Blagota Mitric says the decision will be announced on Tuesday.

Our correspondent in Podgorica says U.S. envoy Robert Gelbard will visit Podgorica next week and that members of the U.S. Congress have invited Montenegrin parliament speaker Svetozar Marovic to visit Washington. Marovic is a close ally of the disputed victor in last Sunday's runoff presidential elections, Prime Minister Milo Djukjanovic.
