Bashkir Opposition Leader's Case Goes To Court
Bashkortostan's prosecutor's office has completed its investigation of the case against Ayrat Dilmokhemetov, head of the unregistered Bashkir National Congress. Dilmokhemetov is charged with "public statements promoting active extremism" for allegedly calling for the "forcible change of government" in the republic, an RFE/RL Ufa correspondent reported on 22 July.

Dilmokhemmetov actively participated in protest meetings against Bashkir President Murtaza Rakhimov in Ufa and Moscow this spring.

The case is reportedly to be considered by the Kirov district court in Ufa.
