The Shenzhou 9 spacecraft touched down in China's northwestern Inner Mongolia early on June 29 after nearly two weeks in space. The three crewmembers included Liu Yang, China's first female space traveler. Chinese media have hailed the mission, which involved docking exercises with the experimental Tiangong 1 space-lab module, as a critical step toward China's goal of building a space station by 2020.
