Beijing tightened security on June 4 near one of the most recognizable landmarks in China on the anniversary of the bloody crackdown on pro-democracy demonstrators. Twenty-four years ago, students and demonstrators crowded into Beijing's Tiananmen Square, where they erected their Goddess of Democracy statue opposite the official portrait of communist revolutionary leader Mao Zedong. The government responded by sending in tanks and troops, who opened fire on the demonstrators. Hundreds, possibly thousands are believed to have been killed. (Reuters video)
