Russia's Coast Guard has detained two Greenpeace activists in the Arctic after they climbed a platform that belongs to energy giant Gazprom. The international environmental group said the incident happened on September 18 in the Pechora Sea. The activists are reportedly being held on a Russian Coast Guard ship. Greenpeace says the Coast Guard fired warning shots near the ship that brought activists to the area. Greenpeace is protesting the potential threat to the environment from operations slated to start by the end of the year. (Reuters)
