At Least 40 Taliban Killed In Fighting On Afghan-Pakistani Border

Fighting in Afghanistan's northern Konduz Province and Pakistan's tribal region along the Afghan border has left at least 40 Taliban militants dead.

Twenty-nine Taliban militants were killed in separate clashes in the Archi, Eman Saheb, and Chardarah districts of Konduz Province since April 23, according to Konduz Governor Mohammad Omar.

Three pro-government militia fighters were also killed in those battles.

Across the border in the Orakzai district of Pakistan's tribal region, an operation by Pakistani security forces resulted in at least 11 Taliban militants being killed and three captured.

The Pakistani Army said one of its soldiers was wounded in that operation.
