Blast Reported Near Foreigners' School In Pakistani Capital

An explosion rocked an Islamabad neighborhood today near a school for foreigners, RFE/RL's Mashaal Radio reports.

A ceremony was taking place at the school at the time of the blast. Rescue teams went to the school and police cordoned off the area.

No casualties were reported.

Islamabad police Deputy Inspector-General Bani Amin told Mashaal Radio that the explosives were placed in a trash container near the school.

"No one was injured or [killed]...in the explosion; [the] school building has been slightly damaged," he said. An investigation is under way.
