Bosnian Police Conduct Major Sweep Against Organized Crime

Bosnian officials say hundreds of police officers have raided more than 100 locations in one of Bosnia's largest actions against organized crime.

Police from Bosnia's Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat federation, as well as from the Brcko district, raided the locations on May 20-21 and detained 60 people, including two serving police officers.

Police also seized large quantities of drugs and weapons in the raids.

Bosnia, which aspires to join the European Union, has stepped up efforts to fight organized crime in the region.
