Canada To Push Iran Sanctions Through G8

Canada's Foreign Ministry says it will use its presidency of the Group of Eight leading nations to push for more sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program.

A spokeswoman for Canadian Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon said Cannon plans to raise the issue at a meeting of G8 foreign ministers at the end of the month.

The United States has been leading the push for a fourth round of sanctions against Iran, which it suspects it trying to develop a nuclear weapon.

Tehran denies the charge.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said work has already begun in the UN Security Council on a sanctions package.
