Cyclone Kills At Least 60 In India

KOLKATA, India -- Officials say a cyclone that hit in the Indian state of West Bengal on the border with Bangladesh has killed at least 60 people and destroyed tens of thousand of homes.

The storm swept through a northern district of the state late on April 13, knocking down homes, trees, and electricity and telephone lines.

The West Bengal minister of state for civil defense, Srikumar Mukherjee, said most of the victims "were buried under the collapsed walls of their homes."

He said it was still unclear how many people were injured.
