Greek police have announced that authorities have decided to halt all mail and package shipments from Greece to foreign destinations for at least the next two days.
The announcement was made after suspected mail bombs were sent to the embassies of Switzerland, Russia, Chile, Bulgaria, and other countries in Athens, and a package containing explosives was intercepted at German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office in Berlin.
A Greek police statement said mail and package shipments were being suspended for 48 hours to allow investigators to conduct checks.
Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas, however, told reporters today the parcel bomb plot has "no link" to international terrorism.
Greek anarchist extremists are suspected of sending the parcel bombs, and two Greek men were arrested on November 2 in Athens on suspicion of having a connection to the campaign.
