Hungary President Proposes Orban For Prime Minister

Fidesz Chairman Viktor Orban

Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom has said he will propose Viktor Orban, leader of center-right Fidesz party, to form a government and be the country's next prime minister.

Solyom, speaking after a meeting with Orban, said he will make the proposal at the first session of the newly elected parliament on May 14.

Orban said he was prepared to form the next government.

Orban's Fidesz party won a two-thirds parliamentary majority in elections earlier this month, ousting the Socialists.
