Iran is reported to have hanged five people convicted of drug trafficking.

The Mehr news agency said the five were executed at a prison in the northeastern city of Masshad today. It did not identify any of the convicts.

The latest hangings would bring to an estimated 35 the number of people executed in Iran so far this year.

Drug trafficking, adultery, armed robbery, rape, and murder are all punishable by death in Iran.
