Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has said world powers have no choice but to negotiate with Tehran about the country's disputed nuclear program.
Talks between Iran and the international community broke down in October 2009.
"We said from the start that the best way is to talk to Iran," the Iranian president said, speaking in the northwestern city of Ardebil in an address broadcast live on state television, adding: "You don't have any other option."
European Union officials have suggested that Iran hold talks with the United States, Britain, China, France, Russia, and Germany from November 15-18.
The United Nations's Security Council recently imposed a fourth round of sanctions on the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program, which the West fears is being used to make a bomb.
Iran says its program is only for civilian purposes.
